Lunar Thorn

What a difference - minimum temperature in double figures!  Last night we had over 100 moths of 24 macro species from three traps set in garden and woodland.  The high spot for us were two Lunar Thorns.  Others new for us this season included Scalloped Hazel, Great Prominent, Pale Tussock, Angle Shades,White Ermine, Nut-tree Tussock, Brindled Beauty, Flame Shoulder, Common Carpet & Least Black Arches.

  1. Only 51 of 330 records for Lunar thorn are post year 2000. Interestingly all these recent records are from the east of the county and all north of Tregaron, considering the range of its larval foodplant.
