Exactly two days earlier than last year, a Mullein high up on the wall this morning. Perhaps it hatched from the caterpillars that ate our buddleia.
Not much in the trap, but also Early-tooth-striped, Water Carpet and Eudonia angustea (2) on the wall.

ReplyDeleteAs I think Tony said before, he found Mullein larvae in the buddleia so planted Mullein....never seen them since! Ungrateful beggers these moths!

The first county record for Mullein larva was in 1995, the first adult record was in 2009. Waring and Townsend say that it comes to light in small numbers. Of the 18 county records 12 are for larvae and 6 for adults, all of the adults were singletons.
